           -Flying High-

She had spent so long with only the birds for company. Mesmerised by their beauty, Sarah would gaze at them for hours on end, in awe of their weightlessness as they fluttered their wings and rose up; free from the confines of the cage. Perhaps it was because she had watched them so carefully. Perhaps it was because she had wished hard to be as free as they looked when she opened the catch on their tiny prison door. She wasn’t sure why, but one day Sarah rose with the birds as they flew. Little did she know what would happen to her next.
--------
My name is Sarah Rose and I've lived alone in a miserable green room for years and I can't even remember how long. My disgusting hygiene is horrible. I haven't had a shower since a man gave me a bucket of warm water to bathe in. Before all of this I worked at a pink corner shop where I sold flowers for people, down by Scotland park where all the street kids play. On a still Monday morning a man asked for a pottel of flowers for his wife, he suggested some white roses and red roses wrapped with a silk ribbon. Later that night I walked to the bus stop and sat down to the same man I got flowers for. ”My wife loved the flowers,” he said with a grin on his face. “I didn't get your name before could you tell me?” I asked. He didn't say anything that cold night after I asked that, he just sat there with a brown bag and rope… Suddenly he struck and put the bag around my head. I screamed in shock and was terrified of this man who was trying to kidnap me. He chucked me into the back of his car and whispered “I go by the name Frank” and shut the doors on me. I heard the car start moving, I was tossing back and forth when Frank took a turn. After that I just passed and didn't remember a single thing the man said or did to me. I was put into that green room I'm now into this very day. The only entertainment I have is doves that fly around the room and a single cage. Sometimes I think I can float with the birds and I even sing to them when I'm bored. I’ve tried opening the doors but they are locked with silver pad lockers. I can see through the dirty window people walking around the market that's just down the street. I can't identify where I am and whenever I wave people just ignore me like I'm a ghost, some kids even see me and start to run away with terror on their face. I barely see Frank, I think he made his own life with his wife. I regret giving him flowers and I don't even think he has a wife. I'm happy to stay with the doves here but I don't like the fact I'm so far away from my family. I haven't eaten in a couple of days. One boy comes to see me every two weeks to give me some crunchy bread that he took from his mother's bakery from the market. I shared it with the birds very little though, and keeped the rest where I sleep. I got the bread out and fed some to them but I only had a chunk left, I ate the rest of the bread since it was Sunday and my next batch would be tomorrow. Till then ~ Sarah Rose.

Question time!

Why do you think Sarah had spent so long with only the birds for company? Because she was locked in a green room with only birds.

What led to her being in the room with the birds? She was kidnapped and put into the green room. She loves the birds so much because she is trapped with them.

How would you feel if you were Sarah and one day you began to fly?I would fly away from the green room and get back home.

What happens next to Sarah and the birds? They are still trapped in the room and sleeping in the room.
